Siteco Wins Innovation Award For Architecture And TechnologyAt the Light+Building 2006, the international trade-fair for architecture and technology in Frankfurt, the Innovation Award For Architecture And Technology has been awarded for the seventh time.
The main award in the lighting technology category has been won by Siteco together with the architects' office of Herzog & de Meuron and the lighting consultant M. Schmidt for the Balloon Luminaire and the membrane lighting of the Allianz Arena in Munich. The award was presented by the 'AIT' and 'xia -Intelligente Architektur' architectural magazines in cooperation with the Frankfurt trade-fair body (light and building technology category). The awards were presented as part of the Light+Building on the 25th April 2006. The idea of the competition was to promote the collaboration between architects, interior designers and companies in the areas of products and projects. It was intended in this manner that positive impulses for innovation should be communicated to the market. The main basis of the competion was not individual development, production and marketing but rather a common, integrated cooperation between all involved. Judging was based upon creativity and commercial performance for each individual project team. A total of 32 participants entered 53 projects. The results of the jury were published on the 9th March 2006. Eleven projects received awards – six in the lighting technology category and five in the building technology category. The jury was composed of the following well-known architects and journalists: Dipl.-Ing. Frau Andrea Stuhl (Stuhl Regelsysteme Spalt), Prof. Iska Schönfeld (HAWK Hildesheim, projectlight Lindau), Dipl.-Des. Lutz Büsing (Ingenhoven and Partner Düsseldorf), Dipl.-Ing. Götz Guggenberger (KBK Architects Belz Lutz Guggenberger, Stuttgart).
