Siteco Illuminates Flowing Town and Office Spaces.
Situated in the Hamburg district of St. Georg near to the city centre, Alster and the central station is the Berliner Tor Center, an office complex designed by Jan Störmer Architects. The construction is an expansion to the refurbished former police high-rise consisting (restructured by BRT architects Hamburg) of two buildings to close the block with a seven storey ring. The construction authorities of the 90,000m² BTC complex, Becken Investitionen & Vermögensverwaltung, have moved into the 21st and 22nd storeys of one of the tower block units.
A custom version of the system luminaire Logo designed by Siteco and Jan Störmer Architects with an ergonomic, organic design directly references the construction of the office architecture: the architects made variety into a principle in that the floor plans of the office spaces accomodate all forms of office layout and configuration.
The Logo D suspended luminaire with Eldacon technology allows for a flexible arrangement of office furniture and desk spaces. The highly precise microprismatic structures create absolutely glare-free light distribution, independantly of where and how the desks and working planes are organised within the space.
Outdoors, the Siteco Mirrortec secondary reflector system sets in scene the colour-variated double facades, the passage and main entrance area. The entrance to the building and passage together with distinctive ground-storey constructions form flowing urban spaces that can be used by the public. These are exactly illuminated with the help of clearly defined beam areas so that light immission falling into adjacent offices is avoided.
All three BTC buildings have now been let. As well as IBM, a second company from the IT area, has just set up office in St. Georg: AOL Germany, with 430 employees.
