Siteco Light Under The Spanish Sun

"Todo bajo el sol", everything under the sun, that was the slogan of the spanish tourist board a while ago. Nowadays however, the light of Siteco shines brightly in Spain. A good example for the sunny side of artificial light on the iberian peninsula is the lighting concept for the central headquarters and service building of Siemens SA in Tres Cantos, near to the spanish capital, Madrid.

In 2005 King Juan Carlos opened the 39,000 m² building complex characterised by innovative flair, a flair that is also typical of the region itself. Siemens, already in Spain for 110 years, looks to the future. The lighting concept from Siteco does the same in terms of sustainability and clear-sightedness.

When the building complex designed by the noted architects' office of Estudio J. Touza y Asociados from Madrid is approached, DL500 outdoor luminaires with radial facetted reflectors from Siteco light the way: with their minimised light spill they line the driveways and main entrance. Siteco A2 floodlights provide building vicinity lighting for the 29,000 m² parking area. An orange-yellow shade of light results from the reflection of so-called sails, used to improve the shadowing of the parking areas. These sails are illuminated by Siteco A2 Mini floodlights and form part of the in-scene setting of the whole building complex. Siteco CP29 bollard luminaires with quadratic housing have been installed in the entrance areas and along the pedestrian walkways. A micro-prismatic louvre at the point of light beam discharge produces interesting day and night-time effects.

Siteco Mirrortec® technology is synonymous with absence of glare, a factor that is vital for road and routeway lighting. Innovative lighting technology has also been used for the main thoroughfare between the old and the new building complexes. A Siteco Mirrortec® secondary reflector system illuminates the entrance hall. The resulting light is distributed evenly within the building interior. In the offices as well as the more than 40 conference rooms, Siteco Louvre Luminaire M individual luminaires with air return slots were deployed. The air return occurs via separate air return channels with avoidance of air passage over the lamps. The luminaire frame is adapted to the measurements of the ceiling system. Lamping (2xT16 39 W) can be replaced without use of tools. Hexal trunking systems were also used.

Thanks to the Quadrature wall-mounted luminaires, visitors and employees find the stairwell as being friendly, pleasant and of course safe. The luminaires are mounted at eye level, a fact that is possible with the Eldacon® micro-prism technology and its complete absence of glare. An added factor is that the lamping cannot be seen, resulting in flexible lighting arrangements. Siteco Lunis R downlights with high lumen diffuse light distribution create a warm and friendly atmosphere in the entrance area. Various colour combinations create interesting lighting ambiences.

With open distribution batten luminaires mounted behind coloured, vertical plastic coverings, an exciting backdrop for interior design is created.
