Siteco Light For The Freitag Lab
Since the 1990's, the Zurich company Freitag lab AG has been producing robust, recycled bags made of waterproof, tough material and printed in a wide range of designs. Old truck tarpaulins, bicycle inner tubes and car belting are the raw materials for the trendy bag creations. A flagship store has existed since 2002 in Hamburg. The shop concept for the outlet has now been developed further.
The architects blauraum in Hamburg presented avantgarde solutions for the presentation of the cult objects in puristic and dramatic surroundings. The concept is basically a simple container box with displays flapped open and a cut-out company logo acting as a viewing window. One is reminded involuntarily of an opened car boot...
Inside, Freitag lab exhibits the products in a ceiling-high shelf unit made of folded boxes in an almost secretive way. Cubistic banks are aligned along the length of the longitudinal side of the container. The lighting is also simple and effective: two Siteco DUS IP 20 trunking rails with open distribution luminaire inserts compliment puristic materials such as the Duripanel facade, used to construct the container modules.
Light, shop design and materials support and compliment the spacial design concept: unusual, tough materials and products within puristic surroundings, with a secretive and at the same time authentic aura, and with suitability for everyday use.
The shop concept from blauraum was awarded the much coveted contractworld accolade within the category "Shop, Showroom, Trade-Fair Stand" in January 2006.
